Why I Carve

My carvings each have a different purpose. Some of my pieces are made because of the joy I get from the characters I create, while other pieces venture into more personal and spiritual aspects of my life.

Some of my work is related to the loss of special people in my life. The act of carving helps me to channel those emotions into a task that honors each individual while helping me work through the grief and loss. Other pieces are motivated by the joy of creation and celebration. The animal figures in my carvings represent a love for nature and a closeness I feel with the world God created.
